Visa-Free Travel to China for Romanian Citizens from November 2024
The Chinese government has declared that starting November 30, 2024, Romanian citizens will have the privilege of visa-free travel to China, as reported by Reuters. This move is part of a larger initiative by China to expand its visa-free regime to include additional countries.
Expansion of China’s Visa-Free Regime
Alongside Romania, other countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, and Japan will also be incorporated into China’s visa-free regime. This expansion will come into effect from November 30, 2024, and will remain in place until December 31, 2025, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Beijing Foreign Ministry.
Extended Visa-Free Stay Duration
In addition to this, China is also planning to increase the duration of visa-free stays. Currently, citizens from the 38 countries under China’s visa-free program are allowed a 15-day stay. However, this will be extended to a 30-day stay, according to state-run CCTV television.
Boosting Tourism and Trade
China’s decision to extend visa-free travel and stay durations comes as part of a strategic move to enhance tourism and trade. The country has previously introduced visa-free regimes for South Korea and various European nations in a bid to stimulate its economy, which has been on a downward trajectory.
