Elon Musk, New Special Advisor to the US President, Promises Massive Federal Layoffs
In a recent declaration, billionaire Elon Musk, recently appointed as a special advisor to the US president-elect, revealed his aggressive plan for the federal government. This announcement was made public on Wednesday through the Wall Street Journal.
Musk’s Radical Plan
Following the clear mandate given to Donald Trump by voters for a radical change, Musk believes that it’s their right. Musk, who owns Tesla and SpaceX, also benefits from federal contracts. His businesses rely heavily on recent US Supreme Court jurisprudence. This court, during Trump’s first term (2017-2021), was given a majority of conservative justices by the Republican president-elect.
Musk argues that many existing federal regulations lack legal grounding as they are not validated by Congress. He suggests these regulations can be suspended via presidential decree. He also advocates for a significant reduction in the federal bureaucracy, which may result in a massive wave of employee departures.
Cost Reduction and Abolition of Telecommuting
Elon Musk is promoting an end to telecommuting, which could trigger a wave of employee departures. He also foresees a potential savings of “$500 billion” which could be achieved quickly by cutting subsidies for public broadcasting or “progressive” organizations such as Planned Parenthood.
He emphasizes that he and his team are business people, not politicians, and promises to cut costs. They anticipate their roles ending on July 4, 2026.
